Punjabi Fish Fry/Batter fried fish

 

















This is a quick Fish fry,popular in the North India, especially Punjab,wonderful as an appetizer or as a side dish to complement the main course.


Ingredients:

Fish -1/2 kg {any fish with firm, white flesh cut into medium-thick slices)
Ginger+Garlic paste-75g
Turmeric powder-1/2tsp
coriander powder-1tsp
cumin powder-1tsp
Ajwain(thymol)-1tsp
Chilli powder-1 tsp
bengal gram flour-200g
Juice of 1 lemon
Oil -for shallow frying
Lemon wedges
Salt-as required

Method:
Mix all the ingredients in a large, shallow dish(except the fish and lemon wedges)so as to form a thick paste. Coat the fish well with the paste. Leave the fish in this marinade for an hour.

Take a flat pan, heat enough oil to shallow fry the fish.Fry till the fish is golden and crisp on both sides. Serve hot, with some lemon wedges. Posted by Picasa
