Dodda Menshinkai Majjige Huli

Dodda Menshinkaya is nothing but Capsicum in Kannada...Majjige Huli is basically a curry with a curd base....something like Malayali's moru curry/Mor koottan....Dodda Menshinkay Majjige Huli is a very simple curry which goes brilliantly with steamed rice.

Ingredients

Capsicum-1 large(Cut into pieces)
Green chilli-3
Tomato-1(cut into pieces)
Grated Coconut-100g
Yoghurt-1cup(beaten into butter milk)
Chilli powder-1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder-1/4 tsp
Tamarind-1/2tsp
Curry leaves-1 sprig
Water-as required
Salt-as required
Oil-1tbsp

Method

Grind the coconut with a pinch of turmeric into a fine paste. In a vessel blanch capsicum with tomato, green chillies, red chilli powder& turmeric powder.Once capsicum has become soft, add tamarind and the ground coconut paste. Cook it for 3 or 4 minutes.Finally add beaten yoghurt, curry leaves and a table spoon oil. Mix well and cook for another minute. Serve hot with steamed rice.Priya's

    LG, I think morukoottan with any vegetable will be classy...
